About the role

AJ Baker & Sons Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic - Service to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Eastern Creek, NSW 2766, this role is pivotal to maintaining and servicing refrigeration systems for our diverse client base. As a Refrigeration Mechanic - Service, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology whilst delivering exceptional service to our valued customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair refrigeration systems and components for commercial and industrial clients
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in refrigeration equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques
• Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards
• Service and repair air conditioning systems, including charge and pressure testing
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls and provide reliable solutions to minimise client downtime
• Maintain accurate records of service work completed, including parts used and time spent on each job
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safe handling of refrigerants
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding service requirements and recommendations
• Work collaboratively with team members to support business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

• A recognised refrigeration trade qualification or equivalent relevant experience in commercial refrigeration service - Suitable for 4th Year HVAC/ Refrigeration Apprentices Or 1st Year Tradesperson
• Current refrigerant handling certification (or ability to obtain certification)
• Proven experience in servicing and maintaining commercial refrigeration systems
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment commonly used in refrigeration service
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transport for attending client sites
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach
• Physical capability to perform manual work, including lifting and working at heights
• A commitment to safety compliance and environmental responsibility
• Preferred experience with smart building systems and energy-efficient refrigeration technologies
