Refrigeration Technical Support

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.
Location: Miller's Vanguard, Bury, BL9 6LE

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and technically minded Refrigeration Technical Advisor to join our growing Service Support team. This is a key role focused on providing technical assistance to field engineers, supporting customers, and ensuring refrigeration equipment is repaired and maintained efficiently.

Working closely with engineers, service managers, customers, you will play an important part in improving first-time fix performance, reducing equipment downtime, and ensuring service calls progress smoothly from diagnosis through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support and fault-finding guidance to refrigeration engineers in the field.
• Review engineer reports, photographs, and diagnostic information to determine the best repair solution.
• Identify and source the correct parts required to support first-time fix objectives.
• Manage and monitor ongoing refrigeration breakdowns, remedial works, and follow-on actions.
• Support engineers with technical queries relating to refrigeration systems, controls, components, and refrigeration circuits.
• Assist in reviewing repeat failures and recurring equipment issues, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Liaise with customers to provide updates on repairs, parts availability, and equipment status.
• Support BER (Beyond Economical Repair) assessments by evaluating repair costs, asset condition, and service history.
• Ensure service records, asset information, and technical documentation are maintained accurately.
• Escalate complex technical issues and safety concerns to specialist teams where required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience within the refrigeration, HVAC, or service support industry.
• A good understanding of commercial refrigeration systems and fault diagnosis.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to support engineers and customers professionally.
• Experience interpreting technical reports, service data, and equipment documentation.
• Good IT skills and experience using service management systems.
• The ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Desirables

• Refrigeration engineering background or technical qualification.
• Knowledge of refrigerants and current refrigeration legislation.
• Experience supporting supermarket, retail, hospitality, or commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Understanding of planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and service delivery KPIs.
