Job Title: Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial cooling and refrigeration systems. This role ensures that temperature-controlled environments meet the strict requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine checks on industrial freezers, chillers, and HVAC systems to identify and address wear and tear before breakdowns occur.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose malfunctions in refrigeration components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and expansion valves.
• Temperature Monitoring: Regularly calibrate sensors and thermostats to ensure accurate temperature readings across the production floor and storage areas.
• System Charging: Safely handle and charge refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols.
• Emergency Response: Provide rapid technical support for system failures to minimize downtime and prevent the loss of perishable stock.
• Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of repairs, refrigerant usage, and parts inventory for audit and budget purposes.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to "Lock-Out, Tag-Out" (LOTO) procedures and all occupational safety standards while working on electrical and pressurized systems.

Qualifications

• Education: Vocational diploma or Associate’s degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) or Mechanical Technology.

• Certifications: National Certification (e.g., NC II in RAC) or equivalent license for handling refrigerants.

• Experience: Proven experience in industrial or commercial refrigeration, preferably within a food manufacturing or cold storage facility.

• Technical Skills: * Proficiency in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

• Ability to use specialized tools like vacuum pumps, manifold gauges, and leak detectors.

• Basic knowledge of electrical controls and PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers).

• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and physical stamina for manual tasks.

Work Environment

• Involves working in varying temperatures, ranging from sub-zero freezers to high-heat production areas.
• Requires the ability to lift heavy equipment and work at heights or in confined spaces when necessary.
