Regional CDL Driver

Sleeper cab regional runs. 25% of what your truck makes, plus $25 a day for food when you're out.

J.R. Tharpe Trucking has been hauling in Virginia since 1971. We're family-owned, and we're hiring regional CDL drivers out of our Rice terminal, running aggregate across Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and surrounding areas.

The schedule, up front

This is a sleeper cab and a regional run. You will be out two to three nights a week. If being home every night matters to you, our Rice day cab position is the better fit and we would rather point you to it now than have you find that out in week two.

How pay works

• You earn 25% of what your truck makes

• If the truck makes $1,000 in a day, you earn $250 that day

This is production pay, so your output moves your check. Busy stretches pay well and weather slows things down. We'd rather you know that now than find out in month two.

On the road

• Sleeper cab truck

• Fuel card — you never pay for fuel out of pocket

• $25 per day for food on any day you're staying out overnight

Bonuses

• $100 a month for perfect attendance

• Quarterly bonus based on company performance — typically 2.5–3% of your gross pay for the quarter

• Referral bonus — $250 when a driver you refer reaches 90 days, another $250 at 180 days. Open to every driver — anyone can refer anyone.

Paid training

• 1–2 weeks riding and driving with an experienced trainer

• $150 per day during training

Requirements

• Valid CDL

• Comfortable with multi-state runs and nights away from home

• Steady worker — on production pay, that's what makes the difference

Straight with you: long days, nights away, and weather affects what you make. What our drivers say is that the work is steady and the dispatchers are fair. If you want the miles and you don't mind the sleeper, this is that kind of job.

Pay: $1,450.00 - $1,650.00 per week
