Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Regional Controller to provide financial leadership across a multi-location construction and industrial organization. This role will oversee regional accounting and financial operations, ensure accurate and compliant reporting, and serve as a strategic partner to operational and executive leadership.

The Regional Controller will work closely with the Regional Vice President (RVP) and Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to improve financial performance, strengthen controls, support acquisitions, and provide the insight needed to make sound business decisions in a decentralized environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, and financial analysis across assigned operations.
  • Partner with regional and corporate leadership to evaluate performance, identify risks, and improve profitability.
  • Prepare and present financial results, trends, forecasts, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Provide financial guidance to operational leaders to support informed business decisions.

Compliance, Controls & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements .
  • Oversee internal and external audit processes and coordinate responses to audit requests.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and implement controls to mitigate exposure.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy across regional accounting practices.

M&A & Financial Integration

  • Lead post-acquisition financial integration, including accounting processes, reporting, controls, and systems alignment.

  • Build strong relationships with branch, operational, and executive leaders across a decentralized organization.
  • Mentor and develop accounting and finance professionals within the region.
  • Influence business decisions through financial insight and partnership rather than relying solely on policy enforcement.
  • Help drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience , preferably within construction, manufacturing, industrial services, or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance .
  • Experience with M&A financial due diligence and post-acquisition integration .
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior operational and executive leadership.
  • Ability to manage financial operations across multiple locations or business units.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.

Travel & Work Environment

  • 40%–60% travel to regional operating locations, corporate offices, and company meetings.
  • Primarily a professional office environment with regular interaction with operational teams and business leaders.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs.

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a reporting role. The Regional Controller will help shape how the business understands performance, manages risk, integrates acquisitions, and makes critical financial decisions.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, commercially minded finance leader who can operate effectively in a decentralized organization, build credibility with operations, and turn financial data into action. Because apparently spreadsheets behave better when someone competent is actually paying attention to them.
