Position Summary

The CARE Network is seeking dependable, compassionate, and highly engaged Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and RBT Trainees to support children and adolescents receiving Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services.

This is an active, hands-on position. Team members are expected to implement individualized treatment plans, collect accurate data, prepare therapeutic activities and materials, communicate professionally, support group programming, and help maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming treatment environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group ABA services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Implement skill-acquisition programs, behavior-reduction protocols, behavior intervention plans, and safety procedures as written.
  • Follow each client’s Individualized Service Plan and current treatment recommendations.
  • Collect complete and accurate data during every session.
  • Complete session notes and required clinical documentation within established deadlines.
  • Report relevant behavioral, medical, environmental, and family updates to the supervising clinician.
  • Communicate client progress, barriers, and emerging concerns to the BCBA and clinical leadership.
  • Participate in treatment-team meetings, supervision, caregiver training, and treatment-plan reviews as assigned.
  • Provide objective observations and data to support clinical decision-making. RBTs and trainees do not independently diagnose clients or develop or modify treatment plans.
  • Use prompting, reinforcement, shaping, modeling, task analysis, natural-environment teaching, functional communication training, and other approved ABA strategies.
  • Support communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, daily living, academic readiness, community safety, and independence.
  • Assist with structured group activities, social-skills groups, life-skills training, and other clinical programming.
  • Prepare lesson materials, visual supports, token systems, schedules, data sheets, and individualized activities before sessions.
  • Remain actively engaged with assigned clients throughout the scheduled session.
  • Support safe client arrival, dismissal, transitions, and transportation procedures when assigned.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents and caregivers while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries.
  • Follow all confidentiality, mandated-reporting, incident-reporting, medication, safety, and professional-conduct requirements.
  • Maintain organized treatment spaces and participate in cleaning, sanitizing, and resetting classrooms, therapy areas, materials, and shared spaces.
  • Attend required meetings, training, competency assessments, and supervision sessions.
  • Accept and appropriately apply coaching and corrective feedback.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and communicate promptly regarding emergencies or unavoidable absences.
  • Perform other client-centered or program-support duties consistent with the employee’s training and scope of practice.

RBT Trainee Expectations

RBT Trainees will receive supervised opportunities to learn and demonstrate required competencies. Trainees must:

  • Complete required training and competency-assessment activities within the established timeframe.
  • Work only within responsibilities permitted by their current training and supervision status.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, reliability, and willingness to learn.
  • Participate actively in observation, modeling, role-play, feedback, and skills practice.
  • Pursue and maintain all requirements necessary to become a credentialed RBT.

Continued employment and advancement may depend on successful completion of training, competency requirements, background clearances, and RBT certification within the timeframe established by The CARE Network.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Current RBT certification preferred but not required for trainee applicants.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, autism, developmental disabilities, behavioral-health needs, or other special needs is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use electronic systems for data collection, documentation, scheduling, and workplace communication.
  • Ability to pass all required background, registry, driving-record, and employment screenings.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation when transportation duties are assigned.

Physical and Safety Requirements

Applicants must be able to:

  • Sit on the floor, stand, bend, walk, and move quickly when necessary.
  • Participate in play-based and movement-based activities.
  • Safely support clients during transitions and behavioral situations.
  • Lift or assist with weight consistent with assigned clients’ needs and organizational policy.
  • Maintain continuous visual supervision and awareness of client safety.
  • Follow approved crisis-prevention and safety procedures after completing required training.

Scheduling Requirements

Applicants must have consistent afternoon and evening availability during the school year. Daytime availability is mandatory during scheduled school breaks, holidays, teacher workdays, and summer programming.

Because consistency is essential to effective ABA treatment, employees must maintain their agreed-upon schedules. Frequent call-outs, late arrivals, incomplete documentation, failure to collect data, or failure to remain actively engaged with clients may interfere with treatment and will be addressed through the organization’s performance-management process.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is:

  • Dependable and punctual
  • Patient, compassionate, and emotionally regulated
  • Energetic and actively engaged
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Comfortable receiving supervision and feedback
  • Able to follow clinical directions consistently
  • Creative when preparing individualized activities
  • Respectful of clients, families, and coworkers
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries
  • Committed to confidentiality and ethical practice
  • Willing to contribute to the entire treatment environment

Why Join The CARE Network?

  • Gain hands-on experience in ABA and behavioral health.
  • Receive supervision and professional development.
  • Work with a collaborative clinical team.
  • Support meaningful growth in children and families.
  • Develop skills in individualized programming, group instruction, life-skills training, and family-centered care.
  • Grow within an expanding behavioral-health organization.
