Responsibilities

• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment following infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
• Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and image quality for accurate diagnosis.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing questions to foster a comfortable experience.
• Support dental sterilization procedures and infection control protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment.
• Collaborate with the dental team using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental assisting including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental equipment operation.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Experience with patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling and medical documentation.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients in a compassionate manner.
• Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while adhering to radiation safety standards.
• Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures specific to dental clinics.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with patients and team members in a fast-paced environment.
