Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols.
• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
• Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and radiation safety guidelines.
• Manage patient records using patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
• Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures to uphold infection control standards and ensure all dental equipment is ready for use.
• Support administrative tasks including greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.

Qualifications

• Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by state law.
• Proven experience in general dentistry with knowledge of pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing electronic health records effectively.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
• Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging including 3D scanners, and dental sterilization procedures.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and infection control policies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting general dentistry operations with attention to detail.
