Registered Dietitian - Per Diem

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Dietitian (RD) to join our healthcare team on a per diem basis. In this vital role, you will provide expert nutritional care, develop personalized care plans, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support patient health and wellness. Your expertise in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and chronic disease management will help improve patient outcomes across diverse settings, including acute care, long-term care, and geriatrics. Duties

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate nutritional needs and develop tailored nutrition support plans.
• Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients with various dietary needs, including weight management, chronic diseases, and specific medical conditions.
• Implement medical nutrition therapy (MNT) strategies such as tube feeding management and dietary modifications for complex cases.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and optimize patient outcomes.
• Utilize electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) to document assessments, interventions, progress notes, and care plans accurately.
• Apply motivational interviewing techniques to encourage behavioral change and enhance patient engagement in their health journey.
• Supervise and mentor dietetic interns or junior staff when applicable, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and best practices.
• Stay current with advances in clinical nutrition, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation methods to provide evidence-based care.

Requirements

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Proven experience in clinical nutrition, including hospital or long-term care settings.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, medical nutrition therapy (MNT), and nutrition support techniques such as tube feeding.
• Experience working with individuals with specific dietary needs across diverse populations including geriatrics and patients with chronic illnesses.
• Skilled in health coaching, client communication, and motivational interviewing to foster positive behavioral changes.
• Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient data management.
• Supervising experience preferred; ability to mentor staff or interns is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in patient assessment and care plan development.
• Knowledge of acute care practices and experience managing nutritional needs in hospital or similar environments is highly desirable.
