Responsibilities

• Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health.
• Assist with chairside procedures such as medical imaging, applying topical anesthetics, and handling dental instruments with precision.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Monitor vital signs and assess medical conditions that may impact dental treatment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.

Experience

• Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting.
• Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and patient information.
• Skilled in utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient documentation review and record management.
• Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to provide gentle care tailored to children’s needs within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices.
• Strong understanding of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and dental assisting procedures like chairside assisting.
• Ability to perform patient care tasks including taking radiographs (medical imaging), vital signs measurement, and patient assessment with professionalism and compassion. Pay: $68.00 - $72.00 per hour
