What they need

About Us

We are an established domiciliary care provider based in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care to people in their own homes.

We are proud to have been recently inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and rated “Good” in all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

As we continue to develop and grow our service, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to join our leadership team and build on the strong foundations already in place.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead the day-to-day management and continued development of our domiciliary care service in Bishop Auckland.

Our service was recently inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and rated Good in all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. We are now looking for an experienced manager to join our team and build on these strong foundations.

This is a key leadership position with overall responsibility for the quality, safety and effective operation of the service. You will lead and support a team of care professionals, ensuring that people receive compassionate, person-centred care that meets their individual needs, preferences and outcomes.

Working closely with the Directors/Nominated Individual, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership and organisational skills, a thorough understanding of CQC requirements and adult social care legislation, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for the people we support.

You will work collaboratively with care staff, service users and their families, commissioners, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to ensure the service remains safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced care manager who is ready to take ownership of an established domiciliary care service, lead a dedicated team and play a key role in its continued growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Take overall responsibility for the management, regulatory compliance and quality of the domiciliary care service.
  • Ensure the service operates in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Regulated Activities Regulations 2014 and CQC requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, safeguarding legislation and data protection requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for CQC inspections, notifications, correspondence and regulatory matters.
  • Maintain and regularly review policies, procedures and systems to ensure they reflect current legislation and best practice.
  • Monitor compliance and implement appropriate action plans where improvements are identified.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the service is prepared for CQC inspection.
  • Continue to develop and maintain the standards that contributed to the service's recent Good CQC rating across all five key areas.

Care Quality & Service Delivery

  • Oversee the development, implementation and regular review of individualised care plans and risk assessments.
  • Ensure care is delivered in accordance with assessed needs, preferences, dignity and independence.
  • Monitor medication management, including audits, recording and staff competency assessments.
  • Investigate and respond appropriately to complaints, incidents, accidents and safeguarding concerns.
  • Carry out regular quality assurance audits, service-user reviews and care-worker spot checks.
  • Monitor service-user and family feedback and implement improvements where required.
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken where standards of care or performance fall below expectations.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Lead the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of care staff.
  • Ensure safe recruitment procedures are consistently followed.
  • Monitor mandatory training, competency assessments, supervision and appraisals.
  • Work with the scheduling team to ensure appropriate staffing levels and safe rotas.
  • Manage performance, disciplinary and grievance matters in accordance with company policies and employment legislation.
  • Provide strong leadership and support to the care team.
  • Develop a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability and high-quality care.
  • Support staff retention and professional development.

Business & Operational Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operational performance of the service.
  • Monitor staffing costs, budgets and resources.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities, NHS organisations, commissioners and other professionals.
  • Support contract reviews, tenders and opportunities for sustainable service development.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and report regularly to the Directors/Nominated Individual.
  • Identify operational risks and ensure appropriate action plans are implemented.

Safeguarding & Risk Management

  • Act as the service's Safeguarding Lead.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded, investigated and escalated appropriately.
  • Ensure staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities and receive appropriate training.
  • Maintain robust risk assessments for service users, staff, lone working and operational activities.
  • Ensure incidents and accidents are appropriately investigated and lessons are identified and implemented.
  • Maintain effective business continuity and emergency planning arrangements.

  • Experience with service development, tendering and contract management.

  • Permanent, full-time position – 40 hours per week.
  • Company pension scheme.
