What they need

Registered Manager – Children’s Learning Disabilities Home

Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne

£55,000–£65,000 depending on experience, plus bonus

Strong Deputies stepping up considered from approximately £43,000

We are recruiting an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to open and lead a brand-new, beautifully refurbished three-bed children’s learning disabilities home in Heaton, Newcastle.

This is an opportunity to shape a service from the very beginning, recruit your own team and create a stable, nurturing home where children with learning disabilities and complex needs can achieve positive outcomes.

The provider is well established across London and the South East and is now opening its first home in the North East. The Directors are supportive, hands-on and committed to developing their managers rather than operating a volume-driven model.

The role will include:

  • Leading the home through the Ofsted registration process
  • Recruiting, developing and retaining a strong staff team
  • Creating a safe, child-centred and nurturing culture
  • Ensuring consistently high standards of care and safeguarding
  • Building positive relationships with families, professionals and placing authorities
  • Working closely with the Directors and wider management team
  • Delivering strong outcomes for children with learning disabilities and complex needs

We are looking for:

  • Previous experience within children’s residential learning disability services
  • An experienced Registered Manager who has achieved at least one Good Ofsted outcome , or a strong Deputy Manager ready to take the next step
  • Deputies should ideally have at least two years’ management experience
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare completed, or substantially progressed
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding requirements
  • The confidence and drive to establish and develop a new service

The successful candidate will be fully paid throughout the registration and Fit Person process, which is expected to take approximately six to eight months.

There is also genuine long-term progression available.

As the provider grows across the North East, the successful manager could progress into dual registration, with earning potential of £80,000+, and potentially into a future Operations Manager position.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious children’s residential professional who wants genuine autonomy, strong support and the chance to build a high-quality home from day one. Please apply here or email your CV to [email protected]
