What they need
Registered Nurse - Wellington | 30 hours per week
Love nursing but looking for more flexibility?
Imagine a role where you can still use your clinical expertise every day - but with flexibility, variety, and a team that genuinely enjoys working together.
At Asthma NZ, we're passionate about helping people breathe easier. Every day we empower people living with asthma and COPD through education, support, and advocacy, while also building the capability of healthcare professionals across Aotearoa.
We're looking for a Wellington-based Registered Nurse who loves connecting with people, enjoys educating others, and wants to make a lasting difference in their community.
Why you'll love working with us
We work hard, laugh often, celebrate successes together, and genuinely care about each other and our patients.
This role offers:
Flexible working that helps you balance work with the rest of your life
Fully remote and community-based role – work from home and across the Wellington community, with no office base
A supportive, fun and collaborative team culture
Variety - every week looks a little different
Opportunities to educate, influence and improve health outcomes
Ongoing professional development and learning
The chance to see the real impact of your work every day
Community networking and stakeholder engagement
Access to a work vehicle – also available for limited personal use
No shift work or hospital roster
If you're looking for a role where you can combine your clinical skills with education, relationship building and community impact, we would love to meet you!
What you'll be doing
You'll work with patients, whānau, health professionals and community organisations to improve respiratory health across the Wellington region and beyond.
Your work will include:
- Providing personalised asthma and COPD education to individuals and whānau
- Delivering engaging education sessions to community groups
- Facilitating respiratory education and training for healthcare professionals, both face-to-face and online
- Building strong relationships with GPs, primary care providers and community organisations
- Supporting and co-designing innovative education programmes and community initiatives
- Helping improve respiratory health outcomes across Aotearoa
No two days are the same - which is exactly what makes this role so rewarding.
About you
You're a Registered Nurse who enjoys working independently, thrives on building relationships, and gets satisfaction from helping others build confidence in managing their health. You are also confident at delivering to large groups and public speaking.
You'll bring:
Current NZ Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate
At least 2-3 years' nursing experience within the New Zealand health system
Current indemnity insurance
Full New Zealand Driver Licence
Empathy and compassion
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Confidence using technology and working in a paperless environment
Strong organisation and time management skills
A positive, adaptable and proactive attitude
A commitment to culturally safe, person-centred care
The ability to travel when required
The legal right to work in New Zealand
Respiratory experience is welcomed but isn't essential - we're looking for someone with great clinical foundations, a passion for education and a desire to make a difference.
