Registered Nurse

Hospice South is looking for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team in our six-bed Inpatient Unit in Invercargill.

Our remuneration has recently been reviewed and is now aligned with comparable hospital rates.

This is a permanent 0.8 FTE position, with flexibility to discuss other FTE options. The role involves a roster across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

What you’ll do

You’ll provide high-quality, person-centred palliative and end-of-life care, supporting patients, families, and whānau through some of life’s most important moments.

You’ll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team to:

• Provide compassionate, individualised nursing care
• Assess and manage complex symptoms
• Administer medications safely and effectively
• Support and educate patients, families, and whānau
• Communicate and document care to a high clinical standard
• Contribute positively to our supportive team environment

What we’re looking for

• Current NZ Registered Nurse (APC)
• Previous palliative care or complex medical nursing experience is preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and symptom management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to culturally safe, equitable, patient-centred care
• Ability to work confidently both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
