We are seeking a casual or part-time Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide perioperative nursing care while supporting the day-to-day clinical operations of the practice.

This is a multifaceted nursing role involving pre-operative and post-operative patient care, operating room and procedure room assistance, post-anesthesia recovery care, and general clinical support. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing colleagues, and administrative staff to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

Clinical Patient Care

  • Perform pre-operative nursing assessments and provide patient education.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and procedural appointments.
  • Provide post-operative assessments, wound care, dressing changes, drain care, and patient education.
  • Triage patient concerns and communicate effectively with surgeons regarding patient care.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and treatments within the electronic medical record.

Operating Room & Procedural Support

  • Assist surgeons during operating room and in-office procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention and patient safety standards.
  • Prepare and organize operating rooms and procedure rooms.
  • Support efficient perioperative workflow and safe transitions throughout the surgical experience.

Clinic Operations

  • Assist with maintaining clinical equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and the development and implementation of clinic protocols.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, medical office staff, and administrative team members.
  • Provide support across clinical areas as patient volumes and operational needs require.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, collaborative, and patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
  • Current ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Operating room and/or PACU experience is required.
  • Previous experience in perioperative nursing, ambulatory surgery, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or surgical nursing is preferred.
  • IV initiation and venipuncture experience is preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to assist throughout the clinic as needed.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Supportive, physician-led team environment.
  • Modern, purpose-built surgical facility.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
  • Positive workplace culture focused on excellence, teamwork, and exceptional patient care.
  • Flexible casual scheduling.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
