Job Overview

Duties

• Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and injection administration.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner to document patient information, medical records, and treatment progress with precision.
• Conduct specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing to support patient recovery.
• Monitor patients’ conditions continuously in critical environments like ICU or trauma centers, responding swiftly to acute pain or emergent situations with critical care response procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management, discharge planning, and compliance with healthcare standards including HIPAA and NCQA standards.
• Provide patient education on health coaching topics such as medication management, nutrition, chronic disease management, and post-acute care instructions.

Skills

• Extensive experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
• Proficiency in advanced clinical techniques such as trauma medicine, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, cardiology procedures like cardiac catheterization, and respiratory support including ventilator management.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic and Cerner for efficient medical documentation and data management.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, laboratory experience including specimen collection/processing.
• Ability to perform complex procedures such as ostomy care, NG tube feeding, spinal tap, gastric lavage; experience with aseptic technique essential.
• Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; emergency room experience highly valued for rapid assessment and triage skills.
• Skilled in medication administration across various settings including acute care environments; experienced in pain management strategies and infection control practices.
• Capable of working independently or within a team to deliver high-quality patient care in fast-paced environments like urgent care or hospital medicine units.
