Registered Nurse

• Works in an infirmary, clinic setting, or on the floor of the correctional facility
• Administers prescribed medication
• Works directly with the inmates (male and female)
• Checks patients into the clinic, and documents necessary information
• Performs other duties on the floor
• You will be responsible for ensuring inmates receive high-quality nursing care via assessments and screenings, administering treatments, changing dressings, and monitoring patient condition

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment and Care: Perform thorough nursing assessments for inmates, including vital signs, health history, and identifying urgent medical needs. Develop individualized care plans for patients with chronic illnesses or acute medical conditions.
• Administer Medications and Treatments: Administer medications, wound care, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians. Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Triage and Emergency Care: Provide triage services in emergency situations, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions for life-threatening conditions.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare staff to provide optimal care. Communicate effectively with correctional officers and facility administrators to ensure the safety and well-being of all parties.
• Health Education: Educate inmates on general health practices, chronic disease management, and preventive care, ensuring they understand their health conditions and treatment options.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, documenting all patient interactions, treatments, and responses to care. Ensure all documentation complies with Harris Health and correctional facility guidelines.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all Harris Health and correctional facility policies, as well as state and federal regulations regarding patient care in a correctional environment. Ensure safety protocols are followed to protect both healthcare workers and inmates.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51.00 - $56.00 per hour
