Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and conduct patient interviews, obtaining and documenting vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and blood sugar (when applicable). Administer prescribed eye drops and discontinue IVs as directed, ensuring all pertinent information is accurately recorded in the patient’s chart.
• Ensure all required reports, diagnostic results, and supporting documentation are complete and available in the patient’s chart prior to the start of surgical procedures.
• Support physicians and clinical staff during examinations and procedures by preparing patients, administering medications as ordered.
• Assist the ophthalmologist and surgical team during procedures including cataract, glaucoma, and cornea surgeries.
• Monitor patient condition and vital signs throughout surgery.
• Provide postoperative care, including recovery monitoring and patient education prior to discharge.
• Conduct pre-operative phone calls to review medical history, confirm medications and allergies, provide procedure instructions (fasting, medication adjustments, arrival time), and answer patient questions.
• Maintain well-stocked exam rooms and operating rooms with adequate medical supplies, ensure instruments are properly maintained, and prepare items for sterilization in accordance with infection control standards.
• Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff, directing communications appropriately to the administrator, nurse manager, or physicians to ensure timely follow-up and continuity of care.
• Provide cross-functional support as needed, including assisting in runner duties, front desk coverage, or other operational roles to maintain smooth daily workflow.
• Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Previous operating room or surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Ophthalmic or ambulatory surgery experience strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification, within 90 days of hire.

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
