Registered Nurse Consultant

VitaCare Living is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support our assisted living and memory care communities in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, as a contracted RN Consultant. This role focuses on clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, staff education, and quality improvement to help ensure residents receive safe, respectful, individualized care. You’ll partner with community leaders and caregivers to strengthen clinical practices, maintain survey readiness, and meet Wisconsin DHS 83 requirements. What we offer

• Pay: $45 per hour
• Schedule: Part-time, approximately 12 hours per week minimum
• Work arrangement: Combination of on-site community visits and remote work based on community needs

Responsibilities

• Complete resident assessments, update Individual Service Plans (ISPs), review psychotropic medications, assess wounds and skin conditions, and follow up on changes in condition and new medical orders
• Conduct medication cart audits and Medication Administration Record (MAR) reviews, reconcile medications with physician orders, and address discrepancies or errors
• Delegate medication administration to qualified staff, verify competency, and provide hands-on education to reinforce safe medication practices and the Five Rights
• Audit resident records, staff training files, incident reports, and emergency preparedness documentation to ensure compliance with DHS 83 and VitaCare policies
• Support survey preparation and help develop and implement plans of correction in response to Statements of Deficiencies (SODs)
• Educate staff, coach community leaders, and provide clear written findings and recommendations after each visit
• Identify opportunities for clinical improvement and help communities implement sustainable practices that improve resident care and maintain regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Wisconsin
• Experience in assisted living, Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs), memory care, or long-term care
• Working knowledge of Wisconsin DHS 83 regulations and the assisted living survey process
• Experience with medication management, RN delegation, and staff competency assessments and training
• Clinical auditing, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance experience preferred
• Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to translate findings into practical action plans
• Reliable transportation, willingness to travel to VitaCare Living communities as needed, and ability to pass a caregiver background check
