Registered Nurse - NICU Transition Program - Nights

Role Overview The NICU Registered Nurse Transition Program is designed for experienced nurses seeking to specialize in neonatal intensive care. The role involves providing professional nursing care in a Level III NICU with a focus on family-centered, single-room care. During a 16-week precepted training period, nurses will receive education and mentorship from a NICU nurse preceptor.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care according to hospital policies and Illinois RN practice standards.
• Employ critical thinking to monitor patient progress, recognize changes, and document observations.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and work collaboratively within the healthcare team.
• Occasionally float to Peds, PICU, Mother Baby, and Special Care Nursery units.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree required within five years if holding an associate degree.
• Current Illinois RN licensure, BLS, and NRP certification (within six months).
• Minimum of one year inpatient RN experience.
