Staff Nurse Job Summary

A Staff Nurse is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing patient care, supporting patients and their families, and ensuring a safe and efficient healthcare environment. They work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care in various settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Patient Care:
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and progress.
• Collaboration:
• Work alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans and care processes.
• Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional policies regarding patient information.
• Education:
• Provide health education and support to patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
• Emergency Response:
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Participate in disaster preparedness and response activities.
• Infection Control:
• Follow infection control protocols to ensure patient safety and minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
• Monitoring and Reporting:
• Identify and report changes in patient conditions to the appropriate healthcare team members.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Licensure:
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certification:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) may be required in certain settings.
• Experience:
• Previous clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is desirable but may vary based on position. Fresh graduates/Newly Licensed are welcome to apply.
• Skills:
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes high-stress environment.
• Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies.
