Registered Nurse Trainer

Job Overview

Inspire Greatness Within, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse Trainer (RN–Nurse Trainer) to provide clinical oversight and nursing support for individuals receiving residential services.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical and Residential Services, the RN–Nurse Trainer is responsible for promoting safe medication administration, medical compliance, and quality clinical practices across up to 24 individuals and/or three residential homes.

This position also serves as a key clinical resource for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), providing medication administration training and certification in accordance with applicable Illinois regulations and Illinois Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight & Medical Compliance

• Provide nursing oversight for individuals receiving residential services.
• Review medical records, Medication Administration Records (MARs), medication error reports, and other clinical documentation.
• Monitor medication storage, medication reorders, and medication administration practices.
• Conduct at least one medication pass observation per month across applicable shifts to promote safe and compliant medication administration.
• Complete required assessments and quality assurance documentation, including:
• SAMA
• HRST
• TD Screening
• Nursing Assessments
• Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, healthcare providers, and other members of the individual's care team.
• Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings and provide nursing recommendations and clinical input.
• Ensure required medical and clinical documentation is completed accurately and timely.

Nurse Training & DSP Certification

• Conduct the DHS-approved 8-hour medication administration training course for Direct Support Professionals.
• Conduct required medication administration re-certifications.
• Provide ongoing medication-related training and clinical education to DSP staff.
• Ensure DSPs are appropriately trained and authorized to administer medications in accordance with applicable Illinois requirements.
• Maintain compliance with Illinois Nurse Practice Act Rule 116 and applicable DDD requirements, including DDD Information Bulletin DD 12.020.

Emergency & On-Call Support

• Provide on-call nursing consultation for medical emergencies and clinical questions.
• Respond appropriately to medication-related concerns, medical incidents, and other clinical issues.
• Provide guidance to residential staff regarding appropriate medical follow-up and escalation.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
• Current RN-Trainer credentials required.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred.
• Experience with medication administration training and DSP certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Illinois Division of Developmental Disabilities requirements and applicable Illinois nursing regulations.
• Strong understanding of medication administration, medical documentation, and clinical compliance.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with DSPs, residential leadership, healthcare providers, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Ability to respond appropriately to medical emergencies and provide clinical consultation.
• Ability to travel between assigned residential locations as needed.

Work Locations

This position provides clinical oversight across residential locations in Chatham, Sherman and Springfield, Illinois.

Compensation

$76,800–$81,000 annually

This is a full-time employee position.
