What they need
Assessment Psychologist – Independent Practitioner
Established Assessment Referrals | Flexible Caseload | Start Now or 2027
Perth – Joondalup and/or West Leederville
Are you a psychologist who genuinely enjoys assessment work, the clinical reasoning, the detective work, pulling together complex information and producing an assessment that actually helps a child, adolescent or adult understand what is going on?
Excelsis Psychology is looking for psychologists with an interest in psychological assessment to join our clinics as independent practitioners under a Practice Management Agreement.
We currently have a substantial and growing list of clients seeking assessment, and are looking to establish relationships with practitioners who would like to develop or expand an assessment-focused caseload.
There is no expectation that you arrive with a full diary or immediately take on a large volume of work.
You can start gradually.
Take on an assessment. Get comfortable with our systems. Add another when you have capacity. Build your caseload around your existing work and commitments.
We are happy to onboard practitioners now for an immediate start, or during 2026 in preparation for commencing in 2027.
The opportunity
Depending on your experience and scope of practice, referrals may include:
- ADHD assessments
- Autism assessments
- Cognitive assessments
- Learning and academic assessments
- Developmental assessments
- Diagnostic clarification
- Complex psychological assessment
- Child, adolescent and/or adult assessment work
You determine the type and volume of assessment work you wish to undertake within your professional competencies and scope of practice.
Why Excelsis?
One of the hardest parts of independent practice is building the infrastructure around the clinical work.
At Excelsis, much of that infrastructure is already established.
Practitioners have access to:
- an established and ongoing assessment referral stream
- professional consulting rooms in Joondalup and West Leederville
- reception and administrative support
- booking and invoicing support
- established practice management systems
- assessment infrastructure and resources available within the Clinic
- professional client communications and administrative processes
- the flexibility to establish a caseload that works for you
This may suit someone wanting one assessment at a time, a regular assessment day, or a more substantial assessment caseload.
Importantly: this is independent practice
This is not an employee position.
You will operate your own independent practice under a Practice Management Agreement, retaining responsibility for your own clinical work, professional obligations and business.
We provide the Clinic infrastructure and practice-management support so you can focus more of your time on the work you actually want to do.
Who we'd love to hear from
You may already be highly experienced in assessment, or you may be an experienced psychologist wanting to make assessment a larger part of your independent practice.
You will need:
- General Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
- appropriate professional indemnity and business insurance
- a current Working with Children Check where required
- an ABN and appropriate business structure
- demonstrated competence in the assessments you undertake
- excellent clinical reasoning, report-writing and communication skills
- strong professional and ethical standards
- the ability to manage your work independently
Clinical endorsement is welcomed but is not essential where the practitioner has appropriate training, competence and experience for the assessment work undertaken.
Start when it works for you
Ready now? We have clients waiting for assessment.
Thinking about 2027? Talk to us now.
We would much rather complete onboarding early, give you time to become familiar with the Clinic and systems, and allow you to build your caseload gradually than expect you to arrive on day one with a packed diary.
If you have been thinking about expanding into assessment work, or simply want to practise independently without having to build every piece of the infrastructure yourself - we would love to hear from you.
