Shepherd Psychotherapy is seeking a male psychotherapist to meet the growing demand from men seeking support who specifically request to work with a male therapist.

The Job

We're looking to hire a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) to provide in-person counselling at 437 Gilmour Street in Centretown. Currently, we're offering office space on Thursdays after 2pm and all day Fridays. You're also welcome to offer virtual sessions on additional days of the week at times that are convenient for you.

All scheduling, billing, online sessions and client notes will be managed in Jane, and you will receive bi-weekly payouts for hours completed during the previous two weeks. You will receive a flat rate of $90 per session, increasing to $95 in Jan 2027.

Location Requirements

• Must live in or near Ottawa in order to provide in-person therapy.

Education & Professional Registration Requirements

• Masters Degree in counselling or a related field
• Registered with the CRPO as a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Supervision

We will provide you with one hour of individual, one-on-one supervision with RP Jeff Shepherd each month, as well as 2 hours of group supervision each month.

Necessary Skills

• Solid understanding of intersectionality, structural racism and anti-oppressive care
• Training in Internal Family Systems Therapy, Psychodynamic or attachment theory.
• Solid conceptualization and treatment skills for clients struggling with anxiety, depression and ADHD
• Able to conceptualize and help clients with a history of trauma, minor dissociation and mood disorders
• Experience working with queer clients and a solid understanding of sexual orientation, gender identities, process of transitioning, and gender affirming care.

Exceptional Candidates will

• Practice IFS therapy
• Have experience with breathwork or other somatic-based activities or therapy
• Provide couples therapy
