Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive animal husbandry and animal care, ensuring animals are comfortable, well-fed, and properly restrained during examinations and procedures
• Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures, including preparing sterile fields, monitoring anesthesia, and performing intubation and IV catheterization.
• Conduct laboratory work such as phlebotomy, diagnostic testing, and digital radiology diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses
• Operate medical equipment including X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and other diagnostic tools with precision and aseptic technique
• Handle animals safely using fear free, low stress handling techniques and animal restraint techniques while maintaining calmness and control in high-pressure situations
• Administer medications accurately via various routes including injections and oral dosing; monitor animals’ responses during critical & intensive care
• Communicate effectively with clients about pet care instructions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to ensure understanding and compliance

Skills

• Extensive kennel experience combined with animal handling expertise for dogs and cats
• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary surgical assistance procedures
• Proficiency in veterinary software for record keeping, appointment scheduling, and laboratory data entry- we utilize Daysmart Vetter for medical software, Vetsnap for controlled substance logging, Wedgewood for our online pharmacy
• Skilled in dental terminology and assisting with dental procedures such as prophylactic cleaning, dental charting, digital dental radiography
• Experience with emergencies, critical & intensive care practices, and veterinary anesthesia monitoring
• Utilization and operation of Idexx in house laboratory machines

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 38.0 per week
