Duties

• Assist veterinarians with medical procedures including anesthesia administration, surgical assistance, and diagnostic radiology.
• Perform laboratory work such as blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests using veterinary software and laboratory equipment.
• Handle animal restraint safely and effectively for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
• Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and ensuring proper pet care standards are maintained.
• Conduct pet grooming and dog training activities to support behavioral health and client satisfaction.
• Monitor animals under critical or intensive care, including anesthesia monitoring and medication administration.
• Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and phlebotomy devices to facilitate accurate diagnoses.
• Insert IV catheters, perform vascular access procedures, and assist with veterinary surgical procedures while maintaining aseptic technique.
• Communicate clearly with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up procedures to ensure understanding and compliance.
• Maintain detailed records of all veterinary procedures using veterinary software systems for accurate documentation.

Skills

• Proven experience in veterinary settings with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology.
• Strong animal handling skills with expertise in dog handling, animal restraint, and pet care practices.
• Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to veterinary dentistry.
• Experience with anesthesiology techniques including general anesthesia protocols and monitoring during surgery.
• Skilled in laboratory work such as phlebotomy (blood draws), diagnostic testing, and radiology diagnostics including X-ray interpretation.
• Ability to perform animal catheterization, IV insertion, and vascular access efficiently under pressure.
• Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols for critical & intensive care situations involving animals.
• Proficiency in operating medical equipment safely and accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques.
• Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners about health concerns and treatment options.
• Familiarity with veterinary software for record keeping, scheduling, and inventory management.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
