Reimbursement Analyst

About the Opportunity:

We are partnering with an established healthcare organization seeking a detail-oriented Reimbursement Consultant for a long-term, fully remote contract opportunity. This role will support hospital cost reporting, Medicare reimbursement analysis, and financial reporting initiatives. Working alongside experienced reimbursement professionals, the consultant will review complex Excel workpapers, trace financial calculations, reconcile source data, and validate reporting accuracy. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and Excel skills, with experience in hospital cost reporting, healthcare reimbursement, or hospital financial analysis highly preferred.

Duration: 12+ months

Location: 100% Remote

Compensation: $40–$52/hour

Scope:

• Review and analyze hospital cost report workpapers, financial schedules, and supporting data to evaluate calculations and reporting accuracy.
• Trace financial data through complex Excel formulas and workpapers, identifying discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies.
• Reconcile reimbursement-related financial data across multiple workpapers, schedules, and source documents.
• Utilize Excel functions, including IF and nested IF statements, pivot tables, and formula auditing tools, to analyze and validate financial calculations.
• Assist with Medicare hospital cost report preparation, CMS worksheets, and supporting reimbursement schedules.
• Support reporting process improvements, calculation testing, and quality assurance to ensure accurate financial outputs.
• Partner with reimbursement project leads to investigate discrepancies, document findings, and recommend solutions.
• Manage assigned deliverables, communicate project updates, and proactively escalate questions or issues.

Qualifications & Expertise:

• Strong experience analyzing complex Excel financial workpapers, tracing formulas, reconciling data, and validating calculations.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required, including IF and nested IF statements, pivot tables, formula tracing, and data extraction.
• Experience with hospital cost reporting, Medicare/CMS cost report worksheets, healthcare reimbursement, or hospital financial reporting strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with hospital cost report preparation, reimbursement schedules, and financial data reconciliation highly desirable.
• Understanding of Medicare reimbursement methodologies, healthcare financial accounting, or hospital net revenue analysis is a plus.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in healthcare finance, hospital accounting, reimbursement, financial analysis, or consulting preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex financial calculations independently.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
