What they need

About Us

RWB Utilities is an established utilities infrastructure contractor specialising in the delivery of essential gas infrastructure projects. Operating within a fast-paced and demanding industry, we provide services that support the maintenance and development of vital utility networks.

We pride ourselves on delivering high standards of service, safety and professionalism, supported by a committed and experienced team.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Reinstatement Manager to take ownership of reinstatement operations across our utilities contracts, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

This is a hands-on management role for someone who thrives in a busy operational environment, enjoys leading teams and takes pride in getting the job done right first time.

You will play a key role in coordinating reinstatement activities across multiple sites, managing operational resources, maintaining quality standards and ensuring that works are completed within agreed timescales. From planning daily activities and resolving site issues to managing defects and improving performance, you will have a direct impact on the success of our reinstatement operations.

Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors, clients and local authorities, including Cadent, you will be expected to lead by example, take ownership of challenges and drive a culture of safety, quality, accountability and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a varied role where no two days will be quite the same. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading reinstatement operations: Taking responsibility for the day-to-day planning, coordination and delivery of reinstatement works across multiple sites, ensuring programmes stay on track.
  • Managing people and resources: Leading supervisors, operatives and subcontractors, coordinating labour, plant and materials to ensure work is delivered efficiently and productively.
  • Driving quality and reducing defects: Carrying out site inspections, identifying and resolving reinstatement defects and promoting a right-first-time approach to minimise rework.
  • Maintaining safety and compliance: Ensuring reinstatement works meet NRSWA, SROH, local authority and client requirements, while promoting safe working practices across operational teams.
  • Keeping operations moving: Working closely with gas mains replacement teams to coordinate activities, resolve operational issues and minimise delays.
  • Managing performance and costs: Monitoring productivity, resource utilisation, defects and operational KPIs, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs.
  • Building strong working relationships: Liaising with Cadent, local authorities, streetworks teams and other stakeholders to resolve issues, maintain effective communication and meet operational commitments.
  • Supporting and developing teams: Setting clear expectations, identifying training needs and addressing performance issues to maintain high standards of delivery.
  • Reporting and improving performance: Providing clear updates on progress, outstanding works and operational performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and taking action where required.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who understands the challenges of reinstatement operations and has the confidence, practical experience and leadership skills to manage them effectively.

You'll be comfortable balancing the demands of day-to-day delivery with the need to maintain quality, manage defects and achieve operational targets. Just as importantly, you'll be someone who communicates well, solves problems and takes a proactive approach to getting things done.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience working within reinstatement, utilities, highways or civil engineering operations, including responsibility for managing teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of NRSWA, the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH) and relevant reinstatement standards.
  • Experience of quality inspections, managing reinstatement defects and monitoring operational performance.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activities and respond effectively to changing operational priorities.
  • Good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to provide direction, work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and take appropriate action.
  • The ability to monitor performance, maintain accurate records and provide clear operational reports.
  • A full UK driving licence.

It would also be advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working on gas distribution contracts, particularly within the Cadent network.
  • An NRSWA Supervisor qualification.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experience managing subcontractor performance, operational budgets and streetworks requirements.

Why Join RWB Utilities?

This is an opportunity to take on a key operational role where your experience, judgement and leadership will make a real difference.

You'll have responsibility for managing reinstatement activities, maintaining quality standards and helping to improve operational performance across our contracts.

If you enjoy being involved in day-to-day operations, tackling challenges, supporting teams and seeing the results of your work, this could be the opportunity you're looking for.

We offer a salary of £45,000 per annum, together with a company vehicle or car allowance, pension and holiday entitlement.

You will be required to work Monday - Friday - 45 hours per week with 1 hour for lunch.
