About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and people-focused teacher to join John Wollaston Anglican Community School as a Relief Coordinator in a full-time, ongoing position commencing in Term 1, 2027.
This critical role ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the School by coordinating staffing coverage for Teaching and Education Assistant absences while maintaining continuity of learning for students. As the first point of contact for staff absences and relief requirements, the Relief Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting staff, students and the broader School community.
The position is primarily based during term time, Monday to Friday and includes a 0.4 FTE relief teaching load, providing the opportunity to remain connected to teaching while playing a key operational role within the School. Flexibility in the structure of working hours will be considered for the right candidate, allowing the role to be structured in a way that supports both the operational needs of the School and individual circumstances.
The Relief Coordinator is supported by a collaborative leadership team and works in partnership with the Deputy Head of Primary, Deputy Principal and Head of Inclusive Education to coordinate relief staffing across the School. This team-based approach ensures access to guidance, shared decision-making and ongoing support in responding to daily staffing and operational requirements.
This position is ideally suited to an educator who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can build strong relationships while managing competing priorities with professionalism and care. Previous experience in a relief coordination, timetabling, workforce planning or similar school operational role will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively support the Mission, Vision and Ethos and Core Values of AngliSchools and John Wollaston Anglican Community School.
Actively support and promote a strong child safe culture.
Coordinate daily relief cover for absent Teaching and Education Assistant staff.
Utilise SEQTA and Edval to allocate relief staff and manage daily staffing schedules.
Source and engage suitable relief staff to ensure continuity of teaching and learning.
Maintain accurate staff absence records and process relief payment documentation.
Provide relief teaching across Kindergarten to Year 12, including teaching classes where staffing gaps occur.
About You:
You hold a Bachelor of Education or an equivalent qualification supported by a Postgraduate Diploma of Education.
You are registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
You hold a current Working with Children Check or are willing to obtain prior to commencement.
You have exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
You are capable of working autonomously, demonstrating initiative and sound judgement, while also contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
You have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to achieve positive outcomes.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, supported by a high level of emotional intelligence.
You demonstrate discretion, professionalism and sound judgement when handling sensitive information.
You have well-developed ICT skills and can confidently use a range of software applications and systems.
You hold valid Australian work rights.
