Moving Operations Lead — Northstar Transition Services
About the role
Northstar Transition Services is looking for a dependable, hands-on Moving Operations Lead to take charge of the major moving tasks at each job. You’ll help the crew work safely and efficiently, keep the move organized, and make sure the client’s belongings are handled with care.
This is an active, on-site role for someone who can think ahead, communicate clearly, and lead by example. You’ll coordinate the flow of work from packing and elevator use to loading and unloading the truck.
What you’ll do
- Lead the crew through the day’s work and help assign tasks.
- Plan and oversee truck loading so items are protected, secured, and arranged efficiently.
- Coordinate elevator use and building access to keep items and crew moving smoothly.
- Oversee packing, wrapping, and protection of furniture and household belongings.
- Identify fragile, oversized, or awkward items early and plan how to move them safely.
- Check that items are labeled and organized for delivery to the correct rooms.
- Keep the home, hallways, elevators, and work areas orderly and safe.
- Communicate clearly with clients, building staff, and the Northstar team.
- Keep the job moving on schedule while maintaining Northstar’s service standards.
- Report damage, safety concerns, delays, or other problems to management promptly.
- Help unload, unpack, organize, and set up the client’s new home as needed.
What we’re looking for
- Moving, packing, warehouse, delivery, or crew-lead experience is helpful.
- Strong organization and the ability to keep track of several tasks at once.
- Clear, respectful communication with clients and teammates.
- Good judgment, attention to detail, and a calm approach when plans change.
- A reliable, professional attitude and willingness to work as part of a hands-on crew.
- Ability to lift and carry household items and work on your feet throughout the shift.
The right person for this job
You take ownership of the work in front of you. You notice what needs to happen next, help the crew stay coordinated, and treat clients’ homes and belongings with care. You’re comfortable giving direction while staying ready to jump in and do the work yourself.
