Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Manager to lead and mentor a team of data engineers building robust, compliant data platforms for healthcare. The role combines hands-on data engineering (SQL, Python, Databricks) with leadership and mentorship responsibilities to deliver high-quality, production-grade data pipelines and analytics that support clinical and operational decision-making while ensuring data governance and regulatory compliance.  Compensation: $160k - $180k base + 10% bonus + RSU's

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, career development, and performance feedback.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using SQL, Python, and Databricks.
• Drive architecture and implementation decisions for data modeling, integration, and storage to support analytics and machine learning use cases.
• Own data quality, validation, lineage, and monitoring processes to ensure reliability and trustworthiness of healthcare data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (clinical, analytics, product, security) to translate requirements into technical solutions and prioritize delivery.
• Conduct code reviews, establish best practices, and promote reproducible, well-documented development workflows and CI/CD for data engineering.
• Ensure data governance, privacy, and security controls are implemented and aligned with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and manage deployments and incident responses for data services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience with strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Proven experience with Databricks and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented culture.
• Experience working in the healthcare domain, with understanding of clinical data, regulatory requirements, and data privacy practices.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT design patterns, data quality practices, and monitoring strategies.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Preferred: prior experience as a manager or formal people-lead role (nice-to-have).
• Preferred: familiarity with data governance frameworks, HIPAA compliance, and healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR).
