Remote Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough virtual patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and physical examinations using telehealth technology
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans in accordance with state and federal regulations, including DEA guidelines for controlled substances
• Manage acute and chronic conditions across multiple specialties such as internal medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health, and emergency medicine
• Collaborate closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and develop comprehensive treatment strategies
• Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards
• Provide health coaching and education tailored to individual patient needs to promote wellness and disease prevention
• Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects to advance telehealth practices and patient outcomes

Skills

• Proven experience working with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/athenahealth) and telehealth platforms
• Strong clinical background in critical care, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or ICU settings; experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable
• Skilled in performing procedures such as suturing, IV infusion/insertion, catheterization, phlebotomy, and sterile processing techniques
• Knowledge of complex medical coding systems including CPT, ICD-9/10 coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes
• Expertise in managing diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, hospice & palliative care, memory care, and individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders
• Familiarity with advanced practice provider regulations and collaborative practice agreements across various states
• Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration; ability to triage urgent cases efficiently
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and EMR systems while maintaining meticulous medical records
