Remote Reference Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Remote Reference Assistant to provide research and information assistance to patrons through phone, email, chat, and other digital communication channels. The ideal candidate enjoys helping people find reliable information and is comfortable using online databases, library resources, and digital research tools.

Responsibilities

Assist patrons with reference and research questions through email, chat, and online services.

Help users locate books, articles, databases, government information, and other reliable resources remotely.

Conduct basic online research and evaluate information for accuracy and relevance.

Maintain accurate records of reference interactions and research requests.

Provide courteous, professional, and timely customer service.

Stay familiar with available library resources, databases, and digital tools.

Participate in virtual meetings, training, and professional development.

Perform other administrative and research-support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in library science, information science, communications, education, or a related field is preferred.

Previous library, research, customer service, administrative, or information-services experience preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent internet research and information-searching abilities.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity in a remote environment.

Reliable internet connection and appropriate home workspace.

Pay: From $29.80 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 10.0 per week
