What they need

Company Description Banff Sunshine Village is a premier ski and snowboard resort located in the heart of Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established in 1928, the resort has a long history of welcoming guests to experience skiing, snowboarding, and the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Sunshine Village is known for its abundant natural snow, averaging 30 feet annually, and its high-elevation location on the Continental Divide. The resort offers Canada’s longest non-glacier ski season, operating from early November to late May, and features high-speed chairlifts, strong guest service, and stunning mountain views. More information about the resort, its terrain, and guest offerings can be found at www.skibanff.com.

Role Description The Rental Program Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the resort’s rental department. This role includes planning and managing rental inventory, ensuring accurate equipment fitting, and maintaining high standards of safety and guest service. The Rental Program Manager coordinates staff scheduling, trains team members on procedures and product knowledge, and monitors performance to deliver efficient, friendly service during peak and off-peak periods. The role also involves collaborating with other resort departments, tracking rental metrics, optimizing workflows, and addressing guest inquiries or issues in a timely, professional manner. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive work environment, support continuous improvement in rental operations, and help guests enjoy a safe and memorable experience on the mountain.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing or supervising rental, retail, or guest service operations, preferably in a ski, snowboard, or outdoor recreation environment.
  • Strong leadership, team coordination, and staff training skills, with the ability to motivate and coach a diverse seasonal workforce.
  • Operational planning and organizational skills, including scheduling, inventory control, and process improvement.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities, with a focus on safety, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Basic financial and administrative skills, such as tracking performance metrics, managing budgets, and using point-of-sale or rental management systems.
  • Knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment, fitting principles, and industry safety standards (or willingness to learn quickly).
  • Ability to work on-site in a mountain resort environment, including weekends, holidays, and peak season periods as required.
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, or recreation management and relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience are considered assets.
