Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Reporter role based in Lagos State, Nigeria. The Reporter will research, gather, and verify information for news stories and features relevant to Mortem Media’s audience and niche. Daily responsibilities include attending events, conducting interviews, monitoring digital channels for leads, and producing written and multimedia content for online platforms. The role also involves collaborating with editors, adhering to editorial guidelines, meeting deadlines, and maintaining ethical reporting standards. The Reporter will work closely with other team members to ensure accurate, engaging, and timely coverage that supports the company’s brand and content strategy.

Qualifications

• Strong Reporting and News Writing skills, with the ability to identify story angles and produce clear, accurate content.
• Excellent Communication and Writing abilities, including interviewing, story development, and audience-focused storytelling.
• Proficiency with Multimedia tools and formats (e.g., basic photo, audio, or video for digital news content).
• Ability to work on-site in Lagos State, Nigeria, and collaborate effectively within a newsroom or media team environment.
• Solid understanding of journalism ethics, fact-checking, and accuracy standards.
• Comfort with digital platforms, social media, and content management systems for publishing and promoting stories.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior experience in reporting or media production is an advantage, especially in digital or online news environments.
