Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Reporter role based in Silchar. The Reporter will research and cover stories related to social impact, technology, and multi-stakeholder collaborations, including field reporting, interviews, and data collection. Daily responsibilities include writing news articles and feature stories, verifying information, and crafting clear, engaging content for digital and print platforms. The role also involves working with multimedia formats, collaborating with editors and other team members, and maintaining ethical reporting standards. The Reporter will be expected to stay current on relevant issues, attend events and briefings, and contribute ideas for impactful storytelling aligned with Impact Weaver’s mission.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Reporting and News Writing skills, with the ability to identify angles, verify facts, and meet deadlines.
• Candidates should possess excellent Communication and Writing skills, including clear language, structured storytelling, and audience-focused content.
• Candidates should possess basic Multimedia skills, such as working with photos, video, or audio to support stories.
• Candidates should possess strong research and critical thinking abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages in Silchar and surrounding regions is an advantage.
• Candidates should possess the ability to work on-site, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and adapt to fast-paced newsroom environments.
• Relevant experience in journalism, media, or communications is preferred; a degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field is beneficial.
• Candidates should possess familiarity with digital publishing tools, social media platforms, and basic media ethics and legal considerations.
