What they need

Roadmap Advisors is looking for a curious, highly organized Research Analyst to support our M&A team. This is a research and deal-process role for someone who wants meaningful responsibility and exposure to businesses and transactions, and who values a sustainable, roughly 40-hour workweek.

You will help our team understand companies and markets, keep transaction workstreams organized, and prepare accurate, useful information for our deal professionals. You do not need prior investment banking experience. We will teach you the M&A context; we are looking for sound judgment, strong research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a habit of following through.

What You’ll Do

  • Research companies, industries, buyers, investors, and potential acquisition targets.
  • Prepare concise company profiles, market summaries, and buyer research for active and potential engagements.
  • Build and maintain buyer lists, deal trackers, CRM records, and other internal research resources.
  • Help coordinate diligence by organizing requests, tracking open items, and maintaining clear Q&A and status logs.
  • Review presentations and other materials for consistency, formatting, and factual accuracy; flag questions for the deal team to resolve.
  • Organize data-room materials and help keep process records complete and easy to navigate.
  • Use Excel, PowerPoint, online research tools, and AI tools to work efficiently while checking sources and taking responsibility for accuracy.
  • Share updates early, identify missing information, and suggest practical ways to improve recurring processes.

You Are

  • A recent graduate or early-career professional with a bachelor’s degree from a strong college or university and a strong academic record.
  • An excellent researcher who can find reliable information, assess its relevance, and summarize it clearly.
  • A strong writer who can explain a company or industry in concise, plain language.
  • Highly organized and careful with details, including names, figures, sources, and confidential information.
  • Dependable and proactive: you keep commitments, communicate when something is unclear, and follow work through to completion.
  • Comfortable managing structured assignments and shifting priorities with guidance from the deal team.
  • Interested in business, finance, entrepreneurship, or how companies operate. Prior M&A experience is not required.
  • Comfortable with Excel and PowerPoint, or motivated to develop those skills quickly.
  • Interested in using AI and other tools thoughtfully to improve research and execution.

We Are

  • A boutique M&A advisory firm serving middle-market businesses.
  • A lean team that works closely together across a range of industries and transactions.
  • Committed to producing accurate, polished work and treating clients and colleagues with care.
  • Focused on working efficiently and building a professional role with a generally predictable, roughly 40-hour workweek. Deal deadlines can occasionally require additional time, but this position is not structured around investment banking hours.

Together, We Will

  • Give you direct exposure to how M&A transactions work, from company and buyer research through diligence and closing.
  • Build your skills in business research, writing, transaction processes, and professional communication.
  • Help you take ownership of repeatable workstreams as you demonstrate judgment and consistency.
  • Rely on you to make the deal team better organized and better informed, while senior deal professionals retain responsibility for analysis, recommendations, and client deliverables.
