Job Title: R&D Assistant

Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for an R&D Assistant for a large chemical company in Pasadena, TX. The Research Assistant provides technical laboratory support for polymer technical service activities, contributing to customer projects, product development, application research, and fundamental technology programs. This role is responsible for preparing samples and formulations, conducting laboratory testing and analysis, maintaining laboratory equipment and procedures, and supporting the generation of technical data and reports.

Working closely with Technical Service Engineers and researchers, the position plays a key role in delivering high-quality experimental results, developing and documenting laboratory methods, supporting customer sample preparation and shipment, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. The Research Assistant utilizes scientific principles to interpret test data, document findings, and contributes to technical communications and promotional materials. Additionally, the role supports laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, chemical management, purchasing activities, housekeeping, process improvements, and special projects as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:

• Preparation of polymer resin, solution, and formulated samples for testing and evaluation.
• Utilize and operate analytical and physical testing equipment such as viscometers, particle size analyzers, moisture analyzers, tensile testers, DSC, TGA, or similar instruments.
• Execution of physical, chemical, and application-based testing for customer, development, and fundamental research projects.
• Data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of scientific findings.
• Development, documentation, and maintenance of laboratory test methods and SOPs.
• Preparation of technical reports, summaries, and supporting data for internal and external communications.
• Support of customer sample shipment and project execution activities.
• Use of Salesforce, Asana, and other systems to manage project assignments, document results, and track project progress.
• Assistance with technical documentation, promotional materials, and research activities led by Technical Service Engineers.
• Laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance activities, including SDS reviews, chemical approvals, audits, and waste management.
• Participation in special projects and other Technical Service initiatives as required.

Years of Experience: 1-3+ years

Education: AS/BS Chemistry or related

Shift/Travel: M-F, days

Compensation: DOE

Assignment Type: Long term Contract
