Research and Development Chemist

FIXED TERM CONTRACT(12 months) – Convertible to permanent after completion.

Job Functions:

• Preparation of adhesive formulations, characterization of properties and testing of lab samples on a variety of substrates
• Assisting in the development of new application methods to test and qualify products for specific projects
• Carrying out material analysis for new and alternative raw materials
• Maintaining R&D laboratory stock for raw materials & lab necessities
• Maintaining safety standards, comply and practice established safety policies, handle scheduled & non-scheduled waste according to procedures, handle chemicals and their disposal or spillages according to guidelines, understanding relevant environmental aspects and their impacts, comply to HSE and organization`s compliance obligations, practise recycling and the established environmental program
• Operating and basic maintenance of analytical equipment
• Implementing and adapting of recipes (BOM’s) and product specifications in the SAP system for new and existing products/raw materials
• Performing any ad-hoc tasks given by superior

Special authorization and eligibilities:

• Insight into product formulations
• Access to SAP/ ITMDS/ D3/Chemges
• Authorized to operate laboratory equipment

• Knowledge in SAP would be an added advantage
• Prior experience in a laboratory in the adhesive or lacquer/paint industry

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry / Mechanical Engineering (Plastics, Packaging, Wood Technology) and/or more than 2-3 years’ experience in the adhesive or lacquer/paint industry
