Position: Chemist I – R&D

Position Reports to: Senior Manager – R&D (Condom Innovation & Operation Excellence, Evidence Generation, Data System & Process)

Department: Research & Development

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

General Summary of Position

This role of R&D Assistant(equivalent to Chemist I, R&D)will be an entry level R&D role in LifeStyles R&D teams to support R&D manager on with ongoing R&D activities on standardization and data remediation.

Role will closely work with rest of R&D teams on data collation and collaborate with supply, quality, regulatory etc. Secondary focus will also be on supporting Head of R&D on competitive data analysis and claims analysis.

The role will be office based in Bangkok and will require close working with rest of R&D team in Surat Thani and wider cross functional teams remotely located in other countries.

Responsibilities & Specific Accountabilities

Data remediation

• Primarily remediation and standardization of data in specifications across all products.
• Tracking of all shelf life verification studies to monitor risks and convert the data into meaningful product risk controls.
• Identifying areas of standardizing and working with all technical functions to propose / align / modify technical specifications.
• Role may be evolved and extended to cover other parts of data management in future.

Product claims management

• Mapping out competitive landscape of claims and track competitor moves.
• Mapping out all claims in portfolio, mapping out gaps and gap fills with updated claim substantiation memos.
• Identify new claim opportunities for lifestyles portfolio.
• Role may be evolved and extended to cover other parts of competitive data tracking in future.

External test

• Review of test result reports
• Coordination on cost, time and report

Accountabilities / Authorities:

• Creation, alignment, and delivery of remediation plan
• Creation and agreement of specification templates
• Tracking of progress of data upgrades versus time plans.
• Competitor claim tracking and feeding into monthly executive summaries.

Safety Risk Management:

• Maintain compliance with all internal and external EHS rules, regulations and other risk management requirements.
• To support office EHS activities.

Key Position Requirements

Education

• Preferably a bachelors or master’s degree holder in science and technology (polymer science, bio technology, chemistry or chemical engineering)

Job Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as entry R&D executive or scientist.
• Prior experience in medical device / pharma/ health care R&D would be an advantage
• Proven ability and successful track record of delivery with cross functional teams.

Must haves: -

• Ability to communicate in English and Thai is a must have.
• Experiences of working with wider cross functional / cross cultural teams.
• Managing business meetings with remote teams as needed.

• Business acumen, curiosity to learn new areas, attention to detail, ability to multitask across a range of topics.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of formulated products is an advantage.
• Strong academic record with proven ability to work under pressure on multiple topics.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to plan and organize work.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with cross functional teams.
• Compatible with Thai work culture and other Asian / western cultures at same time.
