Research & Development Director

We are seeking a visionary and strategic Research & Development Director to lead our sustainable materials pipeline. This executive role is responsible for steering the strategy, design, and commercialization of next-generation materials. Key portfolios include high-performance compostable solutions for disposable applications and carbon-negative formulations for durable goods. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of leadership in materials science, deep expertise in translating nanotechnology into commercial applications, and a passion for driving sustainability at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on advanced compostable and carbon-saving materials.
• Drive the R&D roadmap for both disposable and durable sustainable applications.
• Direct formulation strategies utilizing nanotechnologies, electrospinning, and advanced chemical synthesis.
• Formulate final testing protocols for material performance, durability, and environmental lifecycle assessments (LCA).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. Higher degrees (MPhil/PhD) are highly desirable but not mandatory if offset by extensive industrial track records.
• 8+ years in industrial R&D, with 3+ years in a senior managerial or director-level role.
• Deep knowledge of nanotechnologies, bioplastics, biodegradable polymers, and life-cycle carbon calculations.
• Strategic understanding of advanced processing equipment, including industrial-scale nano-spinning/electrospinning machinery.
• Proven track record of bringing sustainable materials from concept stage to commercial launch.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin to effectively lead regional and global stakeholder relations, factory scale-ups, and cross-border partnerships.
