Job Descriptions
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative R&D Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will lead and execute end-to-end research, design, and development for next-generation electric powertrain systems, motor control algorithms, power electronics, and lithium-ion battery management systems (BMS).
You will work on cutting-edge hardware and firmware solutions, driving product design from concept through prototype debugging, EMI/EMC testing, and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Motor Control & Power Electronics
- Design, implement, and optimize Field-Oriented Control (FOC) algorithms for BLDC and PMSM motors.
- Design, simulate, and develop high-efficiency motor drivers and power inverter hardware utilizing modern power electronics switching topographies.
- Implement custom C / C++ firmware on STM32 and other 32-bit embedded microcontroller architectures.
- Develop, configure, and maintain robust CAN / CAN-FD communication protocols for real-time motor control and system telemetry.
2. Battery Systems & BMS Development
- Architect and design high-density Li-ion Battery Packs, taking into account mechanical layout, thermal behavior, and safety standards.
- Develop both BMS Hardware and Firmware, ensuring reliable cell balancing (active/passive), state estimation (SoC, SoH), and multi-tier battery protection logic.
- Implement thermal management strategies to ensure optimal battery operating conditions and safe thermal runaway mitigation.
3. Hardware Engineering, Debugging & Compliance
- Perform multi-layer PCB design, layout, and schematic capture for mixed-signal power and embedded digital circuits.
- Conduct hands-on hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and load banks.
- Coordinate and execute Thermal Management analysis and EMI/EMC compliance testing to satisfy regulatory and industry safety standards.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2-6 years of hands-on R&D experience in motor drives, electric vehicles (EVs), robotics, or power electronics systems.
Technical Skills:
- Motor Control: In-depth knowledge of BLDC/PMSM motors, FOC, space vector PWM (SVPWM), and sensor/sensorless control algorithms.
- Embedded Software: Expert proficiency in C/C++ firmware development for STM32 microcontrollers and RTOS environments.
- Power Electronics: Hardware design expertise in MOSFET/IGBT gate drivers, high-voltage inverters, buck/boost converters, and EMI filters.
- Battery Engineering: Experience in Li-ion chemistry, BMS hardware/firmware, cell balancing, fault management, and battery pack design.
- Protocols: Strong expertise in CAN, CAN-FD, UART, SPI, and I2C interfaces.
- Testing: Solid understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques, thermal testing, and regulatory certification requirements.
Soft Skills & Preferred Attributes
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to system troubleshooting.
- Passion for R&D, emerging technologies, and continuous product improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
