Research And Development Manager

Our client is a well-established, internationally active manufacturer in the industrial materials sector, with multiple production facilities in Türkiye. Due to a confidential internal transition, they are seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead their technology and product development function.

Role Overview

The R&D Manager will be responsible for leading all research, development, and technological innovation activities related to ceramic body composition, glaze and firing processes, and new product development, while ensuring alignment with production, quality, and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ceramic body and glaze formulation development, including composition–sintering behavior studies
• Manage thermal analysis, characterization, and process optimization of ceramic materials
• Oversee patent and IP development activities related to material innovation
• Manage R&D project planning, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination with production, quality, and engineering teams
• Represent the company in academic and industry collaborations, publications, and technical partnerships
• Mentor and develop a technical R&D team

Candidate Profile

• PhD (or equivalent advanced degree) in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in ceramic materials R&D, including at least 3–5 years in a managerial capacity
• Strong technical expertise in traditional ceramic processing, thermal analysis, and body/glaze formulation
• Demonstrated track record of publications, patents, or applied innovation projects in the ceramics sector
• Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills
• Fluent English required
