Research And Development Manager

About the role

Responsible for leading Research & Development, new product development, formulation, product improvement, and cost optimization activities for the confectionery business of Network Food Industries, a subsidiary of Pet World Group. The role works closely with Marketing, Production, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to develop innovative, high-quality, cost-effective products that meet customer and consumer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage new product development and formulation activities
• Develop and improve confectionery products and formulations
• Conduct product trials, testing, and scale-up
• Monitor raw material quality and develop alternative ingredients and suppliers
• Drive formulation and cost-saving improvements
• Support Production in formulation and process-related issues
• Handle customer and consumer technical enquiries
• Work with Marketing and Operations on new product projects
• Conduct technical evaluation of new products, ingredients, and processes
• Maintain R&D records, formulations, specifications, and trial reports

About you

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of R&D / Product Development experience, preferably in the confectionery or food industry
• Strong knowledge of food formulation, ingredients, and product development
• Experience in product trials, scale-up, and commercialization
• Good understanding of food quality and food safety requirements
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and project management skills
• Able to work independently and lead cross-functional projects
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Willing to travel when required
