Research Assistant

Position Description

This is a full-time position for a 12-month appointment with possible renewal. This position will support a project related to microbial identification from dental plaque at Decode Cure Limited. The Research Assistant will assist research support activities in all areas related to a metagenomic system. The Research Assistant will be supervised and report to our senior scientists. Our R&D projects include techniques in genomic sequencing, DNA and protein preparation, DNA and protein analysis, and big data analytics. The successful candidate for this position will assist and support our R&D projects in all aspects, such as but not limited to:

• Performing metagenomic and cell culture related tasks.
• Recording and maintaining project data and assuring data consistency/security.
• Participating R&D related meetings and teleconferences including actively participating discussion at meetings and recording key points.
• Conducting scientific reference searches, abstracting data from published sources, summarizing articles.

Requirements

• BS or above in biological sciences or related.
• Fresh graduates are welcome.
• Laboratory skills to assist daily R&D task in microbial enrichment, DNA cloning, genomic sequencing, protein analysis, reagent preparation, data analysis, and other routine laboratory tasks.
• Detail-oriented, well organized, highly motivated, mature and a good team player.
• Eager to learn new technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge in python is preferred.
• Fluent in English.
