What they need

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 September 2027.

The Department of Computer Science and Technology is an academic department that encompasses computer science along with many aspects of engineering, technology and mathematics. We have a worldwide reputation for academic research with consistent top research ratings. The Department has an open and collaborative culture, supporting revolutionary fundamental computer science research, strong cross-cutting collaborations internally and externally, and ideas which transform computing outside the University. Please follow the link at: https://www.cst.cam.ac.uk to find out more about our department.

We are seeking a Research Assistant/Associate in the general area of specification testing to join the team led by Professors Peter Sewell and Neel Krishnaswami.

The general aims of the project are to advance the use of runtime testing of separation-logic specifications for systems C code, further developing the Fulminate tooling for CN runtime testing. For this specific post we are seeking candidates with experience in separation-logic testing for C. The position is available for 1 year. Flexible and part-time working can be considered.

Requirements:

Candidates should have been awarded a PhD (or be very close to submission of one), or relevant experience and have a strong publication record in separation-logic testing. The candidate should also have good programming skills. Good communication, presentation and management skills are also desirable given the size of the project team.

Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. This is a postdoctoral-level appointment; those who have submitted (or expect soon to have submitted) but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant -Grade 5, which will be amended to Research Associate-Grade 7 once the award of the PhD has been conferred.

Applicants should contact Prof Peter Sewell for further information: https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~pes20/

In addition to the base salary stated above, the successful candidate for this post will receive an additional 2.5% supplement to their pay.

Required documents include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and contact information for two references. If you upload any additional documents, which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.
