Reporting to the Research & Infrastructure Lead within the Directorate of Learning Resources, you will lead a dedicated team member, guide policy compliance, and optimize open research workflows across the University.

The Role

Based at our Headington campus, you will manage the end-to-end repository infrastructure, ensuring Oxford Brookes’ research outputs are compliant, discoverable, and preserved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repository Management: Oversee the institutional repository service, driving discoverability, preservation, and metadata standards for university research outputs.
  • Open Access & REF Compliance: Validate research uploads via our Current Research Information System (CRIS) against funder open access policies and research assessment (REF) criteria.
  • Copyright & Licensing Expertise: Provide authoritative advice on copyright legislation, creative commons licensing, and data privacy in scholarly publishing.
  • Team Leadership: Line manage and direct the daily work of the Library Assistant (Open Research).
  • Service Integration: Collaborate with Research Data, IT Services, and Research & Innovation teams to deliver a joined-up open research infrastructure.

What We Are Looking For

  • Repository & CRIS Experience: Proven track record working with institutional repositories and/or Current Research Information Systems (CRIS).
  • Open Research Knowledge: Deep understanding of the scholarly publishing landscape, persistent identifiers (DOIs, ORCIDs), metadata protocols, and funder open access mandates.
  • Copyright & Policy Expertise: Solid understanding of copyright, licensing terms, and data privacy laws in relation to open research.
  • Problem Solving & Leadership: Strong analytical skills to solve complex repository workflows, coupled with line management capabilities.

Why Join Us?
