Reservations Agent

About the role

Distinction Christchurch is seeking a reservations agent to join its front office team. Located in the CBD, Distinction Christchurch Hotel offers 182 elegant, air-conditioned hotel rooms, conference facilities and the stylish Gumption Bar & Restaurant. As part of Distinction Hotel Group— New Zealand owned and operated hotel chain—you'll play a key role in keeping individual, group and tour bookings running seamlessly.

Key responsibilities

• Managing individual and group bookings: Handle reservations by phone, email and internal systems, with accuracy and in line with our policies.
• Coordinating group stays: Take bookings from quote to handover. Prepare quotations, manage contracts, track rooming lists and make sure front-of-house teams have what they need.
• Supporting tour series: Work with new and returning tour series accounts, help load future series, issue quotes and collaborate with the management team on contracts for upcoming seasons.
• Keeping systems up to date: Maintain accurate rates, promotional packages and guest profiles in our reservation and property management systems.
• Following up on payments: Monitor required deposits and guest prepayments and follow up proactively to help secure timely payment and reduce financial risk.
• Working across the hotel: Communicate with other departments to resolve booking issues quickly and help deliver a seamless guest experience.

About you

• Proven experience in hotel reservations, group coordination or front office operations.
• A genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and a commitment to an upscale guest experience.
• Strong attention to detail, including confidence checking contracts and managing deposits.
• The ability to work with complex booking software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Guest Centrix advantageous.
