The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Resident Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting the delivery of a major data centre development in Paris .

This is a 12-month freelance opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who can provide technical oversight and coordination on site, working closely with the client, design team, contractors and wider project stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the project is delivered in accordance with the approved design, specifications, programme and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the engineering representative on site throughout the project.
• Provide day-to-day technical oversight of construction activities.
• Monitor installation works against approved drawings, specifications and design requirements.
• Coordinate with the design team, main contractor, specialist subcontractors and client representatives.
• Review technical submissions, RFIs, method statements and construction documentation.
• Identify and resolve technical issues arising during construction.
• Attend site coordination and progress meetings.
• Monitor construction progress and highlight potential technical or programme issues.
• Carry out regular inspections of works and report on progress and quality.
• Ensure design changes and site modifications are properly documented and coordinated.
• Support commissioning and testing activities where required.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports and technical documentation.
• Assist with snagging, completion and handover activities.
• Ensure that health, safety, quality and project requirements are being maintained.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer, Project Engineer or similar .
• Strong background in data centre, mission-critical or other technically complex construction projects .
• Engineering qualification or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering systems and technical documentation.
• Experience coordinating contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of quality control and construction standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Previous experience working on large-scale European projects is advantageous.
• French and/or English language skills would be beneficial.
