Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Resident Service Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide direct support to residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being within a behavioral health or psychiatric care setting. Your energetic approach will help foster a secure and nurturing environment, assisting residents with daily activities, monitoring their condition, and responding effectively to their needs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and monitor residents’ behavior, mental state, and physical health to ensure safety and stability
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and medication management under supervision
  • Implement behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to prevent crises and promote positive interactions
  • Maintain accurate medical records, documentation of patient observations, and incident reports in compliance with facility protocols
  • Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid, CPR, and crisis intervention skills while coordinating with medical staff or emergency responders as needed
  • Support psychiatric care plans by engaging residents in therapeutic activities and providing emotional support
  • Enforce safety protocols such as physical restraint techniques when necessary to protect residents and staff during behavioral crises

Experience

  • Prior experience working in acute care settings or psychiatric hospitals is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health concepts, crisis prevention, and de-escalation techniques
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions, including substance use disorders
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, patient monitoring procedures, and medication administration practices
  • Background in psychiatric patient care or behavioral health hospital environments is advantageous
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients experiencing mental health challenges and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as crisis intervention or physical restraint techniques are a plus

Join us in creating a safe, supportive environment where residents can thrive! This role offers the chance to develop your skills in psychiatric care while making a positive impact on individuals’ lives. We are committed to fostering a respectful workplace that values your dedication to patient care and professional growth.
